The 11th Joint Neurosurgical Convention 2026 The 11th Joint Neurosurgical Convention 2026

Welcome Message

Dear Esteemed Colleagues,

Soichi Oya

Soichi Oya M.D., Ph.D.
Professor,
Department of Neurosurgery,
Gunma University Graduate School of Medicine

I am honored and excited to announce that I will co-chair the 11th Joint Neurosurgical Convention (JNC 2026) (The 11th Pan-Pacific Neurosurgical Congress and the 11th International Mt. BANDAI Symposium for Neuroscience) with Dr. Masahiro Shimizu from Kanto Neurosurgical Hospital. This event is scheduled from February 1st to February 5th, 2026, in the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii.

These gatherings have a rich legacy, greatly shaped by the late Prof. Takanori Fukushima, whose impact was substantial. Historically, these events have brought together top neurosurgeons from the Pan-Pacific region and Europe, blending academic progress with personal connection. I am proud to continue the tradition and properties of JNC.

Neurosurgery has reflected the rapid medical and social advancements of our era. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted to restrictions by turning to webinars and online meetings, which were particularly effective for education. However, these past few years have also underscored the unchanged value of in-person meetings for meaningful discussions.

As we return to direct interactions, the fields of neurosurgery and neuroscience are thriving once again with lively debates and growing networks. Our congress in Hawaii is a perfect opportunity to re-engage, discuss important issues, and build friendships in an inspiring setting.

I am pleased to host a platform where leading neurosurgeons worldwide can meet to inspire and motivate each other as we look forward to a brighter future. We are excited that JNS 2026 will rejuvenate the spirit of our previous meetings and drive us toward new frontiers of innovation and cooperation.

Warmest regards,

Greeting,

Masahiro Shimizu

Twenty years ago, in 2003, the Joint Neurosurgical Convention was held as a groundbreaking event combining the Pan-Pacific Neurosurgical Congress and the International Mt. Bandai Symposium for Neuroscience. This conference brought together neurosurgeons from around the world to share cutting-edge technologies and insights, serving as a pivotal opportunity to pave the way for the next generation of medicine.

Over the subsequent two decades, the field of neurosurgery has experienced remarkable advancements in technology and research. These developments have created an optimal environment for our generation of surgeons to directly learn these invaluable techniques. The exceptional skills and knowledge cultivated by our predecessors have become the foundation of modern medical practice, crucial role in enhancing the precision and safety of today’s treatments.

Dr. Soichi Oya, Professor of Neurosurgery at Gunma University School of Medicine and I have been entrusted with the role of co-presidents for this conference. We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Kazuo Watanabe, Southern TOHOKU Research Institute for Neuroscience, for appointing us to this esteemed position.

We have planned various events to support all participants enhance their clinical skills and knowledge while furthermore refreshing from daily fatigue on the beautiful island of Hawaii. We hope you will learn extensively and enjoy this opportunity to the fullest.

Sincerely,
